Minor raped by neighbour, arrested

A 12-year-old Class 8 student was reportedly raped allegedly by his neighbour at labour quarters in Jagdishpura Mohalla near Tajpur road here on intervene night of Wednesday-Thursday.


Acting swiftly into the matter, the Division Number 7 police arrested the accused who was in a bid to flee the city to evade arrest.

The accused has been identified by police as Ram Sharan (24), an unmarried labourer, and a resident of the same locality.

According to father of the victim, they used to sleep on the roof top of their dewelling. At around 2 am on intervene night of Wednesday-Thursday, the accused, a neghbour, took her daughter to his room and outraged her modesty, he added.

In the morning, when he found his daughter missing, he started looking for her. Meanwhile, he heard screams of her daughter coming from the room of Ram Sharan. When he knocked the door, the accused opened it and fled from the room.

The father of the victim immediately sounded to the police.

SHO at the Division Number 7 police station inspector Raj Kumar said the accused was arrested on Friday. A case of rape and confinement under Sections 376 and 342 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against him, the inspaector said.
