Rave parties held secretly during evening and late night hours along with gambling and cabaret performances at farmhouses on the city outskirts have forced police to think of ways to tackle the menace.
Taking initiative on the matter, Haibowal police summoned owners of 35 earmarked
farmhouses at the police station for a meeting on Tuesday, but only six responded. They were advised not to hold such events to escape police action.

Assistant commissioner of police (Gill) Gurpreet Singh Walia said that police had chalked out a plan to deter holding of night parties in farmhouses.

As per the plan, beat officer would visit farmhouses to keep a vigil on rave parties, gambling and cabaret performances and file daily reports. The SHO would also visit the farmhouses, followed by the area ACP.

The ACP said that farmhouse owners would be allowed to hold family functions or small parties, if they so desired.

It was learnt that police were taking the matter seriously after the cold-blooded murder of the then Moga DSP Balraj Singh Gill and Monika Kapila at a farmhouse at Humbran road.
