Infuriated over scolding by her husband, 21-year-old Anjali ended her life by hanging herself from a hook on the roof at her rented accommodation in New Kuldeep Nagar area of Basti Jodhewal on Saturday.
Her husband Suresh was asleep in another room when she took the extreme step. Her
husband suspected her for infidelity.
The Basti Jodhewal police have sent the body to the civil hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The police have informed the parents of the woman about her death and are awaiting their statement to register a case.
Anjali had an inter-cast marriage with Suresh who worked as a labourer in a factory.
According to sources, Suresh had scolded Anjali for some calls on her mobile phone and had gone to sleep.
Suresh said when he woke up on Saturday morning he was surprised to not find Anjali in the room.
He went out to find her and was shocked to see her hanging from a hook on the roof.
Basti Jodhewal police station SHO inspector Balwinder Singh said the police were investigating the matter and would register the case after recording the statement of the parents of the deceased.
