Some unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants, said to be followers of self-styled godman Asaram, allegedly assaulted a senior journalist near Sahnewal.

In his complaint to additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) City 4 Swapan Sharma, Rajesh Bhambi alleged that he went to Asaram's ashram near Sahnewal, as he got information that his son Narayan Swami was in Ludhiana.

Bhambi said he approached the people at the ashram seeking to meet the ashram's manager. However, after the manager refused to meet him, he left after waiting for 30 minutes.

After crossing the road, he clicked pictures of the ashram, and as he was about to sit in the car, four miscreants, riding two motorcycles, appeared there, and opened attack on him with sticks and punches. When he resisted the accused fled.

Bhambi said he jotted down the number of the motorcycles and could identify the accused.
