Several Congress MLAs would join the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) after the Moga byelection, said SAD general secretary Prem Singh Chandumajra here on Sunday.
Earlier, Joginder Pal Jain, a senior Congress leader and MLA from Moga, had joined SAD. The SAD leader informed that as
many as six sitting members of legislative assembly (MLAs) from Congress would join SAD after the Moga byelection. Chandumajra also revealed that several Congress leaders were in touch with his party to negotiate for shifting loyalties.

The Akali leader rubbished the claims of former member of Parliament from Congress, Jagmeet Singh Brar, who had alleged that SAD had hacked EVMs during the Punjab assembly elections; he had also alleged that SAD had rigged the recently held Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections too.

Chandumajra chided the Congress, saying that he could understand the mental agony of the Congress leadership after having suffered successive reverses at the hand of SAD. He warned the Congress of witnessing the worst in Moga.

"Devoid of any issue against the SAD-BJP government, the Punjab Congress has chosen to level personal allegations," he added.

He pointed to the repeated Congress attempts to make Sanjha Morcha withdraw from contest in Moga and said that it proved the party was extremely inconfident to contest against the SAD-BJP combine.
