The SAD general secretary and former Lok Sabha member from Patiala, Prem Singh Chandumajra, criticised the rail budget for not giving preference to the Patiala region.
Chandumajra, in a statement issued here, said the budget was only a disappointment for Punjab as there was nothing
special for the state in it.

“Despite the fact that the railway minister belongs to Punjab, the budget has failed to bring in any major project for the region. It is a hollow budget which has nothing to provide,” said Chandumajra.

The SAD leader also took a dig at the minister of state for foreign affairs and Patiala MP Preneet Kaur for her failure to bring in anything special for the Patiala region.

“No addition of any train is there in the budget. The railway ministry has ignored the Patiala-Samana linkage. Patiala has been ignored completely again,” said Chandumajra.

The SAD leader said that it was a joke with Punjab, as not a single kilometre of the rail line had been promised for Punjab, despite assurances from the minister.

“The congress minister has not paid any heed to the state's most legitimate demands for extension of freight corridors from Mumbai and Kolkata to Amritsar. This was of utmost importance in view of the increased trade activity through the international border at Attari-Wagah,” said Chandumajra.
