Revenue, information and public relations minister Bikram Majithia on Friday claimed that Shiromani Akali Dal's (SAD) landslide victory in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections was not just a defeat of the Sarnas, but was also a slap on the face of the Congress party that
backed the Sarnas.

The Youth Akali Dal president alleged that the Sarna brothers were toadies of the Congress party and that the poll strategy was guided from 10 Janpath -- the residence of Sonia Gandhi.

"The entire machinery of the central and Delhi governments was being used against SAD candidates in the polls. But the Sikhs gave them a befitting reply and showed that our community cannot forgive the Congressmen responsible for the Sikh genocide of 1984," said Majithia.

"It is high time that Amarinder understands that his political career has ended," he said.

Majithia avoided questions regarding the possibility of a change of guard in the Punjab government. "The issue was created by media only. There was no such discussion in the party," he said.
