The state excise department has collected 2.5% more revenue than last year during the auction of liquor vends of Sangrur district on Friday.
The department has generated revenue of Rs. 174.62 crore this financial year against Rs. 169.69 crore in 2012.

Kumar said they had received around 131 applications for the auction of liquor vends in 10 groups across the district.
There are 719 vends, of which 249 are of English liquor and 470 are of country-made liquor.
Singh said they had estimated revenue of around Rs. 173.62 crore this year, but they received overwhelming response from several liquor barons.
Giving the information, he said liquor vends of Sunam, Sangrur and Longowal groups were allotted to Gagan Wine Traders, Dhuri group to Dhuri Traders, Lehragaga group to Moonak wine group, Malerkotla to Malerkotla Enterprises.
