Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, on Friday organised its first 'India International Cultural Fest-2013' on its campus. As per the university authorities, more than 200 students from countries like Ghana, Ivory Coast, Iran, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Kenya, Nepal, Sri Lanka and
Afghanistan participated in the festival.


The event was inaugurated by the vice-chancellor SS Chahal. Welcoming the guests, university pro-vice-chancellor Shalini Gupta said that the festival would students a chance to know about the cultures of other countries. Students of the host varsity presented classical dance, Himachali dance, Haryanvi dance, bhangra and Malwai giddha.

The chief guest for the evening session was noted Punjabi writer Satish Verma, who is currently the director of the youth welfare department at Punjabi University, Patiala. 

Students from Afghanistan, Ivory Coast, Bangladesh and Iran presented their folk dances.
