Hit by truck, newly-marriedwoman dies on Karva Chauth

A newly-married woman, who had come to her parental house on Karva Chauth to seek her parents' blessings, was killed when her scooty was hit by an unidentified truck near Kalaundi village near Bassi Pathana on Monday evening.


The mishap occurred when the victim, Akwinder Kaur, and her sister Beant Kaur were riding on the scooty when a truck allegedly hit them killing Akwinder on the spot while Beant was rushed to the civil hosptial.

The truck driver fled the scene with his vechile.

Following the statement of Beant from Thablan village of Bassi Pathana, the Bassi Pathana police registered a case against unidentified truck driver under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Investigating officer Bhupinder Singh on Tuesday said police was putting in efforts to trace the truck and arrest the driver.
