Law dept professor is academics dean, Punjabi varsity

Vice-chancellor of Punjabi University Jaspal Singh appointed Paramjit Singh, professor of the law department, as new dean of academic affairs of the university.

Paramjit Singh, who has a vast experience in law teaching, has won laurels in diverse fields by working in various national and international bodies and organisations.

He has replaced SS Khehra, who has been re-appointed as university's legal adviser after superannuation.

The vice-chancellor also appointed Jaswinder Singh, professor of Punjabi, as the new dean, research. He replaced Harpal Singh Pannu and extension of one year was given to MIS Saggu as additional dean, research.

Jamshid Ali Khan, professor, political science, was appointed as dean, college development council, for another term of one year, while Kulbir Singh Dhillon, professor, history department, was appointed as director, university colleges.

Gurmel Singh, professor of physics, was appointed as director, university's neighbourhood campuses.

The vice-chancellor also appointed new heads of the department for a period of three years. Prof Inderjit Singh was made head of economics, JA Khan of distance education and Rajinder Kaur Rohi of Guru Gobind Singh department of religious studies.

Balwinder Singh from the economics department was appointed as coordinator, Centre for South West Asia Study.
