The Fatehgarh Sahib district and sessions judge Kuldeep Singh on Friday awarded death sentence to Khuswinder Singh, accused of killing six members of a family.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 29, 000 on him.
The court found Singh guilty of pushing two children among six
members of a family, into Bhakra Canal in June last year.
Singh, killed all his relatives from Mukandpur in Ludhiana district, for lure of money which the family had obtained by selling a piece of land.
The police had arrested the accused, after one member of the family Jasmine Kaur managed to survive and reported the matter to Bassi Patha Police.
Singh, a resident of Suhavi village in same district, runs business of typing and deed writing in local court, had planned the murder after he came to know that Rs. 37 lakh obtained from land sale deal were lying at home.
