Married woman elopes with lover, arrested Newly married Reena (name changed), married to Narinder Singh of Dera Meer Miran village of the district in September 2012, who had eloped with her paramour Jagdish Kumar of Amrali village in Morinda on the intervening night of December 14 and 15,
was arrested by the police on Wednesday.

Narinder, who works at a furniture shop, lives with his mother Harpreet Kaur and younger brother Jagtar Singh.

When Narinder and his father-in-law Balbir Singh had found Reena missing from home, they had grown suspicious that Jagdish might have kidnapped her. A case was registered against Jagdish under Sections 366 and 498 of the IPC at the local police station.

Fatehgarh Sahib SHO Devinder Attri informed that Reena had submitted an affidavit showing herself as 'unmarried' in the Punjab and Haryana high court to marry Jagdish without divorcing her husband. He said the woman mislead the court by submitting false information and remarried. The police had registered a case against the duo under Sections 495 and 193 of the IPC.

Narinder said he was not ready to live with Reena anymore.  As per Reena and Jagdish, they were in an affair for a long time and wanted to live together. Both were presented in a Fatehgarh Sahib court on Wednesday, where they were remanded to 14 days' judicial custody.
