Union railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has ordered immediate restoration of Mori Express, which used to run between Ranchi and Jammu via Patiala.
This was announced by former chairman of Patiala improvement trust KK Sharma, who was part of a delegation that called on the minister
on Monday.
Patiala MP and union minister of state for external affairs Preneet Kaur led the delegation.
The deputation pointed out that the train would be a big relief for the people of Patiala and adjoining areas who wanted to visit Vaishno Devi shrine.
The deputation also told the railway minister that the train would be of great help to labourers coming from Jharkhand and Bihar, who migrate to Punjab in search of greener pastures every year.
The deputation also urged Bansal to get the Patiala railway station renovated and upgraded, to which the minister assured that it would be done on priority.
