Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) recently signed four power purchase agreements with producers of non-conventional electricity, an official said on Saturday.
PSPCL director (distribution) Arun Verma signed one agreement with Dallanwala Non-Conventional Power Generation
Private Limited, Sangrur, while the other three were signed with Sidhwan Hydro Power Private Limited and Preetech Power Private Limited.

Unde the agreements, the PSPCL will buy power from a 700-KW mini-hydel project being set up on the Sidhwan canal in Ludhiana, an 800-kilowatt (KW) mini-hydel project being set up in Gurdaspur district and an 850-KW mini-hydel project being set up on the Sabraon canal in Gurdaspur.

Verma said the rate of the power purchase will be decided by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission. He added these agreements would last for 35 years and were a step further to harness environment-friendly energy.
