After SAD vice-president and SGPC executive member Karnail Singh Panjoli publically opposed the appointment of Joginder Pal Singla as chairman of district planning committee(DPC), Fatehgarh Sahib, by Punjab the chief minister; Singla was honoured on Tuesday at Mandi Gobindgarh by SAD district president Jagdeep Singh Cheema.
Apart from Singla ; newly elected zila parishad chairman Baljit Singh Bhutta; block samiti, Amloh, chairman, Kashmira Singh Shahpur and others were honoured in presence of SAD leaders Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, Tajinder Singh Salana, Jatinder Singh Dhaliwal, Kaushal Mishra ; senior BJP leader Ran Singh Kalsi, Ravinder Singh Padam.
As per another report, former Sirhind MLA, Didar Singh Bhatti, has hailed the decision of appointment of Singla. At a separate function Singla was honoured by Jassran village sarpanch, Jagdeep Singh Deep, in presence of SAD vice-president Amrik Singh Jassar. A meeting of SAD workers held at Amloh in which party general secretary Manjit Singh Salana and his associates opposed Singla appointment.
They alleged that Singla is not primary member of the party even then he was appointed on important post.
The CM announced appointment of Singla as chairman of DPC on Saturday and it was Panjoli who first opposed this appointment. Panjoli was close confident of former SGPC president Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra and now close to SAD general secretary and former MP Prem Singh Chandumajra.
Perturbed over Singla's appointment he faxed letters to the CM and SAD president and demanded that any Taksali Akali leader should have been appointed and state government should reconsider its decision. Panjoli alleged Singla served in Congress and when SAD again came to power he joined the party last year and was appointed DPC chairman.
Panjoli had stated that Singla's post should be given to those person who had sacrifice for the party for easy win of party in Lok Sabha election. Sitting Muncipal Council Mandi Gobindgarh councilor Singla, had joined SAD in presence of SAD chief Sukhbir Badal.
