With the arrest of two suspects on Friday, the Rajpura police claim to have solved the murder of Ritu Duggal, a resident of Satnam Nagar of Rajpura, who was found murdered in August last year.

The police have arrested Jagtar Singh of Rajpura and Manpreet Singh alias Monty of Ferozepur district. The duo allegedly strangulated Ritu to get their hands at the jewellery she had on her. Later, the duo also inflicted injuries on her body using sharp-edged weapons.

The police also claim to have recovered some gold and silver ornaments, a purse, a camera and some other articles from the suspects, which they had stolen from Duggal's house.

Ritu was found murdered on August 17, 2012 and a case was registered at the Rajpura police station.

Giving details Rajpura SP Bhupinder Singh Khattra said after a thorough probe, the police zeroed in on Jagtar and Manpreet on the basis of circumstantial evidence. The duo had entered the house of the victim with the intention of theft and killed Ritu, the SP said.
