Two injured in firing, eight booked

Mulepur police on Monday registered a case against eight people, of whom two could not be identified, involved in a firing incident over a property dispute in Reauna Ucha village on Sunday that left two people injured.


Gurpreet Singh, brother of victim Ishwar Singh, alleged that they were working in their fields when the accused started firing at each other, injuring Ishwar and Amritpal Singh, who was passing by. Both injured were referred to a Chandigarh-based hospital.

The accused booked under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act included Ramgarh village resident Harnail Singh, Manupur village resident Gurmail Singh, Reauna Ucha village residents Nachittar Singh, Harchand Singh, Malkit Singh and Kulwant Singh, and two unidentified persons.

Phoolka to raise cases of missing children in Supreme Court today

Senior Supreme Court advocate and Aam Aadmi Party leader HS Phoolka is going to take up the issue of missing persons of the country, especially Punjab, before the Supreme Court on Monday. “Over 1,00,000 children go missing in India, almost 11 every hour and 3 of these are never recovered, as per the information provided by the National Crime Records Bureau,” Phoolka said.
