University given 6 months to fill backlog SC seats

The state Scheduled Castes (SC) commission on Thursday gave Punjabi University here six months to fill the backlog seats for students in the SC category.


In a meeting with the university authorities in Chandigarh, commission chairman Rajesh Bagha also told them not to collect admission charges and others fees from the SC students under the post-matric scholarship scheme. He asked the university registrar to ensure the implementation of the scholarship scheme for the SC students.

Registrar Arwinder singh Chawla led the team representing Punjabi University, while Anjana Sandhu, deputy director in the welfare department; Surinder Pal, assistant director (colleges), Punjab; and members of the SC commission, Dalip Singh Pandhi and Bharti Canady, were present.
