Hosts Punjabi University continued to dominate even on Day Three of the fifth All-India Inter-University Fencing Championship here on Wednesday.
The hosts won three of the gold medals, while the women's team secured one first and two second positions. Punjabi University won their
first gold of the day in the men's team sabre event.

Anna University was second in the event, and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, third.

The Patiala team then clinched the gold medal in the foil event, and followed it up with a top podium finish in the epee contest. In foil, Jammu University and Panjab University, Chandigarh, were the silver-medal winners, and Osmania University took the bronze.

The men's epee silver went to BM University, while Kerala University and Jammu University won the bronze medal, respectively. In women's epee, Kannur University, Kerala, won the gold medal, while Punjabi University fencers got the silver. Anna University and Manipur University won each of the two bronze medals at stake. In sabre fight, Kannur University won the gold medal, while Punjabi University settled for the silver.

The hosts' women's team tasted success finally in the foil event, where it defeated Kannur University to earn the gold medal. Anna University and Panjab University, Chandigarh, won the bronze medal.

Nearly 470 players from 35 universities from across India are in the competition.
