A Sikh shop manager in Essex foiled a robbery attempt at his shop by throwing a flurry of beer cans at the thug. Aman Singh Mann sent the thug, armed with a knife, fleeing empty-handed.

Earlier, the raider had ordered worker Claire Pizzey to open the till of the Nisa shop in
Kelvedon Hatch, Essex.

29-year-old Mann, who was on his break at the time, heard the commotion and sprang into action. He threw 12-packs of Carling and hit the thug on his leg. His heroics on Sunday were caught on CCTV, "The beer was in front of me so I just threw it," the Mirror quoted Mann as saying. "I didn't have much time to think," he said.

The cops were called but could not find the intruder.

Both Mann and Pizzey were unharmed during the incident.
