Republicans continued their push for Indian Americans, introducing a bill in the house of representatives on Monday to condemn the Wisconsin massacre of Sikhs.
Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan introduced the bill condemning "the senseless attack at the Sikh Oak Creek,
Wisconsin". Six Sikhs - four of them Indian nationals - were shot dead by a supremacist on August 5 in the small Wisconsin town of Oak Creek.

Oak Creek is part of Ryan's congressional district and he attended a vigil in the memory of the victims several days after the incident, with a head cover in keeping with Sikh rituals.

"The resolution might not offer consolation to those haunted by that violent attack, but it does display our commitment to religious tolerance," said House representative Ed Roye, co-sponsor of the bill.
