Army happy with response

The army authorities are happy with the turnout of youngsters for the ongoing army recruitment rally at Tibri Cantt near Gurdaspur for the post of soldier (general duty) and soldier (technical).
Giving details here on Wednesday, Col NS Seethi, director, recruitment, Amritsar, said a
total of 39,196 candidates reported for the rally. These candidates were from the districts of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Pathankot and the rally commenced from February 8.

He said that after the preliminary height measurements, 4,448 candidates were rejected. A total of 34,748 candidates are currently undergoing the test for physical endurance and so far 3,931 have been found to be fit.

Col Seethi said those who cleared the physical endurance test would be eligible to sit for the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) to be held on February 24. Those who clear the test will be inducted into the various arms and services of the army.

"We are happy with the turnout, which shows that a lot of youngsters are interested in joining the army. This healthy response will inspire many more youth to join the forces," the recruiting officer said.
