Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal will honour Baba Sewa Singh Khadoor Sahib Wale, chairman of the Nishan-e-Sikhi Charitable Trust, Amritsar deputy commissioner Rajat Aggarwal and PS Bhatti, president, Missionaries Khudai Khidmatgaran, for their efforts towards environmental conservation through
tree plantation drives, on the occasion of the Republic Day here.

The awardees will be presented cash awards of Rs. 1 lakh each and mementos. Aggarwal is being honoured for planting 7.30 lakh plants in Amritsar in 2011-12, of which 1.46 lakh saplings were planted under the MNREGA scheme, 56,000 of them were planted with the help of various NGOs and 2.08 lakh with the help of residents and school students.

Baba Sewa Singh Khadoor Sahib Wale is being honoured for planting 3 lakh trees this year. He is credited with painting the roadsides in Khadoor Sahib green with the help of women and children. Bhatti is being honoured for planting saplings across the city in parks, lanes, marketplaces and other available open spaces, and making his own arrangements to water these saplings.
