'Need to create learning-centric environment'

Stressing that there was a need to create a learning-centric environment, DN Reddy, chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has said this will help in bringing innovation for further growth and development of the nation.


Reddy was addressing students at the 42nd annual convocation of the local BBK DAV College for Women. He emphasised that today's woman is empowered who can switch over from one task to another with greatest skill and potential. Learning is very important and the students must focus on it, he added.

During the convocation, nearly 1,100 graduates and post graduates from arts, commerce, science, economics, computer science, journalism and mass communication, media studies and production, multimedia and design streams were awarded degrees.

College principal Neelam Kamra congratulated the degree recipients and exhorted them to keep learning throughout their life and to follow the path of truth, morality and hard work.

She also read out the annual report of the college, highlighting achievements in academics, sports and co-curricular activities.

SR Arora, secretary, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, presided over the function and wished luck to the new graduates and post graduates of the college.

On the occasion, college magazine 'Shachi' was released and a one-act play was presented by the Theatre Club of the college.

Sudarshan Kapoor, chairman, local management committee, presented the vote of thanks.
