Three booked for gangrape in Tarn Taran

The Tarn Taran police on Friday registered a case against three persons after a woman alleged abduction and gangrape on the trio on Thursday night. The accused have been identified as Nirmal Singh, Rana and an unidentified person who was called ‘Sarpanch’. The rape took place in village
Pahuwind.

Narrating the incident, SP (D) Tarn Taran Harwinder Singh said, “A woman in her mid thirties had complained that she was firstly taken by a person named Nirmal Singh who later took her to village Pahuwind where two more persons named Rana and ‘sarpanch’ raped her.”I personally went to the spot and after verifying the facts, registered the case, added the SP.

He said, “The lady had claimed that she was unwell and had gone with Nirmal, who lived nearby, for taking some medicine when the accused forcibly took her to the village.”

The police, which registered a case under section 376 of the IPC in Bhikhiwind police station, are yet to arrest the suspects. The SP said that one person who was called ‘sarpanch’ by his accomplices is still to be identified.
