407 students receive degrees

Accepting the degrees they had earned was a big moment on Sunday for 407 graduate and postgraduates from Government Rajindra College here.

 

Education minister Sikander Singh Maluka was chief guest at the convocation, and Pawan Kumar Singla, controller of examinations, Punjabi University, Patiala, was special guest. College principal Vijay Goyal read the academic report.

The 407 students to receive the degrees had all seured 60% or more marks in the 2010 and 2011 examinations. Maluka talked about the importance of women's education and stressed the need for giving boys and girls the right social system and inspiring teachers to perform their duties well.

The education minister agreed to give the old college the necessary money for maintenance. He asked for a proposal to be sent to him. Special guest Pawan Kumar Singla congratulated the students for their academic achievement and advised them to study further to be specialists in their fields to be able to get the right employment.

The registrar thanked all the guests, various committees and students for their contribution in making arrangements for the function.
