A day after Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) asked Sanjha Morcha constituent People's Party of Punjab (PPP) to withdraw its candidate from ensuing Moga bypoll, PPP president Manpreet Singh Badal on Wednesday said that he had not received any such request from PPCC chief Capt Amarinder
"We have not received any request from PPCC president Amarinder Singh to withdraw Sanjha Morcha candidate from Moga by-election," Manpreet, an estranged nephew of Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, said.
Manpreet said Sanjha Morcha, which is an amalgam of PPP, CPI, CPM and SAD (Longowal), had already announced Ravinder Singh Dhaliwal as candidate to contest Moga by-poll scheduled for February 23.
Amarinder on Tuesday asked PPP to support it for the upcoming Moga by-poll and withdraw its candidate for the same. Manpreet further said that a joint election campaign would be launched from January 24 in which more than 400 activities of Sanjha Morcha's constituents would participate for the elections. He further said that Sanjha Morcha would give tough fight to SAD-BJP and Congress in the upcoming elections.
Moga constituency seat fell vacant when Congress MLA Joginderpal Jain resigned from the party and joined SAD.
The former Punjab finance minister said that he was confident of a good performance in next Vidhan Sabha elections as both Congress and SAD-BJP had failed to provide good and corruption-free governance in Punjab.
