A 21-year-old habitual offender was stabbed to death by two Ram Darbar residents on Thursday afternoon.
Giving details, police said Sonu alias Lota, who had a number of theft cases registered against him, was killed owing to an old enmity.
DSP South Surinder Malik said Sonu
was going towards the Ram Darbar market along with a friend, Raman, when he was stabbed.
Police sources said Sonu and Raman were on their way to the market when they met Ashu and Ravi following which they exchanged abuses. Soon an argument ensued between them which took a violent turn.
Ravi, according to the police sources, held Raman, while Ashu took out a knife and stabbed Sonu at least five times in the stomach. Ashu and Ravi fled leaving Sonu bleeding profusely on the spot. People gathered and informed the police. Sonu was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Malik said efforts were on track the duo and investigations into the case were on. He added they were trying to ascertain the reason behind the immediate provocation for stabbing Sonu.
The police are verifying whether any case have been registered against Ashu and Ravi earlier. A case of murder under section 302 of IPC had been registered in the incident.
The family was informed and the body had been sent for a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident five persons were booked for stabbing a Mauli Complex resident on Thursday.
Police sources said Rohit of Mauli complex, Manimajra, alleged that Satpal, Ram Aasre, Chiku and Sanjeev, all residents of Mauli Jagran, stabbed him. Rohit claimed that the four also threatened him in a park at Mauli complex on Thursday afternoon. The four managed to escape from the spot while the complainant was admitted with injuries at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).
The police have registered a case of voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation in the matter at the Manimajra police station.
