A Class 10 student on Monday alleged that she was raped by two of her neighbours, after they barged into her house in Badhmajra Colony here.

The accused, identified as Krishan Lal, 41, and Lakhmir, 45, are auto-rickshaw drivers and have been charged with rape and criminal intimidation. While Lal has been arrested, efforts are on to nab Lakhmir.

In her statement to Balongi police, the victim alleged that the two had been harassing her and passing lewd comments at her for many days. On March 12 the parents of the victim were not at home and her brother was sleeping in another room, when the accused allegedly barged into her house and raped her.

The accused even warned her against complaining about the incident to anyone. She had also alleged that the community in Badhmaja Colony was pressuring her to not approach the police.

The police have confirmed the incident. “We have registered a case on a complaint by the victim, who approached us on Monday. Her medical examination has been done,” said Kulbir Singh, the station house officer of Balongi police station.
