The municipal corporation of the city is all set to launch an online facility for applying for birth and death certificates in April.
Once the facility is launched, the rush of applicants to the office of the MC's death and birth wing is expected to reduce. At present, nearly 200
people visit the office everyday and stand in a queue for at least an hour.
Speaking to HT, MC joint municipal commissioner Rajiv Kumar Gupta said it was a long-pending demand of the residents. “With the new service, it will not be necessary for people come to the MC office. There will be an icon on the MC's website. Once users click on the icon they will be directed to a webpage where they'll able to fill in their details and make a payment through online banking,” he said.
The civic body's IT incharge, Mahesh Gandhi, said procuring such certificates would now be more convenient for city residents. Last year in December, MC had launched an online grievance system, which had got good response.
