Moga bypoll: SAD, Cong nominees to file papers

Joginder Pal Jain from the state's ruling alliance and Vijay Sathi from the main opposition party will file their nomination papers on Saturday to fight the local assembly byelection. With main pieces finalised, the ruling combine of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP) and its rival, the Congress, will now put these on the board to get the game on. State Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh; state leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Jakhar, and former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal will accompany Sathi to the returning officer for filing nomination papers, Jagmeet Singh Brar, member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), has said.

Sathi will file his nomination papers at 2pm, Jain at 11am, and the PPP candidate, Ravinder Singh Dhaliwal, on February 4. Senior leaders of the CPI, Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Shiromani Akali Dal (Longowal) will be present during the filing of nomination paper," said the PPP president, Manpreet Singh Badal.

On Friday, at Bir Charik village in this district, the administration reviewed the security arrangements. Amarinder will camp here for the entire election process. The former chief minister will reach here on Saturday morning and get into doorstep campaign with Sathi, state Congress secretary Harpal Singh Brar has said. Of the polling stations, 47 are sensitive and 27 most sensitive, returning officer Joram Beda has said. The constituency's 16 sectors will have two special police squads each to record political meetings.

The administration has hired two teams from Ferozepur to video record the campaigns of main candidates Jain and Sathi.
