In view of murder of SAS Nagar based lawyer Amarpreet Singh on Wednesday, Punjab and Haryana high court bar association and SAS Nagar district bar association today gave a call to its members to abstain from work.
Though high court judges conducted the judicial proceedings
and government counsels appeared before the courts in some cases, the courts adjourned most cases as lawyers did not appear.

The district bar association of SAS Nagar also suspended work and staged a protest in front of deputy commissioner's office.

A young lawyer was killed while two others were injured in firing over parking of vehicles in Phase 3A of SAS Nagar on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Amarpreet Singh alias Lucky, aged about 32, and the injured as his cousin Gaganjot who had returned from Australia to attend a wedding in family and the latter's friend Simarjeet of Sector 36, Chandigarh.

The Punjab and Haryana high court lawyers had held a meeting on Wednesday afternoon and decided to resume work from today after it was suspended on Tuesday afternoon following a brawl between advocates and UT constable.
