Truck mows down bike; man killed

A man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was mowed down by a truck here on Thursday. A cyclist was, meanwhile, injured in a separate accident.
The truck driver, whose identity could not be ascertained, has been booked for causing death due to rash and negligent driving at
the Industrial Area police station.

Police said the truck (HR-38G-6200) mowed down the motorcycle (CH-01-AJ-2761) that was being driven by Deepak, a resident of Sector 29, near Colony Number 4 on Thursday. Deepak was injured and rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, a Dhanas resident was injured in an accident between his cycle and a car near the Sector 16 cricket stadium here on Thursday.

Police the driver of the car (CH-03-S-0773) fled after the accident. The victim, Jagtar Singh, was admitted to PGIMER. Police have registered a case against the accused, whose identity could not be ascertained, of causing hurt due to rash and negligent driving.
