The police have registered a case against two people in connection with the alleged disappearance of the dead body of 104-year-old Bachan Kaur from the cremation ground on the Gaushala road.

Bachan Kaur, an Adarsh Nagar resident, was cremated on the evening of April 3 and her ashes were collected on April 5 from the cremation ground.

During the immersion of the woman's last remains in Sutlej at Kiratpur Sahib, the family noticed that many major bones were not in the bag. Maan Singh, the son of Bachan Kaur, alleged that the attendant of the cremation ground, Sarvan Kumar, had put out the funeral pyre of his mother as soon as the family had left at the instance of caretaker Gurdev Singh Kohli in order to retrieve wood. He alleged that the body of Bachan Kaur was made to disappear.

According to Rupnagar SHO Manvir Singh Bajwa, the police have registered a case under Sections 297 and 34 of the IPC against Kumar and Kohli and started investigations.
