The decomposed body of Katwara resident Pawan Kumar (35), who was missing since February 7, was recovered from Bakapur village on Thursday.
The police has sent the body to the Garhshankar civil hospital, where a post mortem would be conducted on Friday. Pawan Kumar, a driver
with one Kashmiri Lal, had gone to fetch fodder on a tractor-trolley on the February 7 night. Due to some snag in the vehicle, he had to spend the night on the road.

The tractor owner had sent him food and blanket to make him comfortable. However, the driver failed to return the next day.

The vehicle and blanket were recovered, but there was no clue of Pawan Kumar. Some blood strains detected in nearby potato fields had indicated that he might have been attacked. On Thursday, his body was found lying under a small overpass. Station house officer Jatinder Singh said there were no injury marks as the body had decayed, but going by the circumstantial evidence, a murder case was being registered.
