Three members of a local family here have been booked on the charges of duping Rs. 11 lakh from a person on the pretext of sending him abroad.
The complainant Harpreet Singh, a resident of Dhirpur village, has alleged that he had paid Rs. 11 lakh to Rajvinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh and
Jaswinder Kaur, all residents of New Guru Nanak Nagar, on the assurance of sending him to Italy.

"Jaswinder Kaur, who is the mother of other two accused was living in Italy when I paid the amount. But the family failed to fulfill the commitment, Harpreet alleged.

When I demanded my money back, they issued me a cheque of Bank of India (Number: 827884 dated 02-04-2012) which could not be cleared," Harpreet alleged adding that before finally getting the cheque he had already given several deadlines to return his money.

A case has been registered under sections 420 and 406 of Indian Penal Code.
