Powercom fails to collect money from defaulters in Nakodar

The Nakodar city and sub-urban division authorities of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (Powercom) have failed to recover the amount from the defaulters, running into crores of rupees. “Rs 4.96 crore in the city division and Rs. 2.67 crore in the suburban division have remained unpaid by
consumers," executive engineer Kanwar Jaswant Singh said on Wednesday.


Powercom officials said that they were unable to recover the amount from consumers due to strong protest by them.

Officials said that Rs. 2.15 Lakh was outstanding from agricultural consumers in the city division and Rs. 1.76 lakh in the suburban division.

Industries also figure in the defaulters' list. Rs. 61.11 lakh remains outstanding from industrial consumers in the city division and Rs. 67. 07 lakh in the suburban division.
