In the backdrop of Delhi police registering an FIR against seven Punjab Technical University (PTU) functionaries for cheating students, the Dal Khalsa has asked the Punjab governor and the chancellor of the university Shivraj Patil to suspend vice-chancellor Dr Rajneesh Arora from the post
Notably, the Delhi police have registered an FIR u/s 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (Cheating and dishonesty) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code against seven PTU officials, including the vice-chancellor, for cheating students by charging fees for them for distance education courses without obtaining mandatory approval from the Distance Education Council to run such courses in the national capital.
Party general secretary Manjinder Singh and spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said that the VC should be placed under suspension till his name was not cleared by the court from all accusations.
They also attacked chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for his allegedly soft corner towards Dr Arora.
Accusing him for foisting of one language, one religion and monolithic culture in the PTU run colleges especially in the ‘Human Values and Professional Ethics’ special course, they said any course in Ethics in Punjab and India should be plural and inclusive in nature.
