Taking a serious note of prevalence of fake number plates in the city, police commissioner Ishwar Singh on Wednesday directed the number plate designers to check all the required documents thoroughly before designing/preparing a number plate under the Motor Vehicles Act.
In an
official statement, Singh said that there were cases where fake number plates were being used for anti-social activities.
“Whosoever would be found preparing a fake number plate would be dealt with severely under the law. All those preparing number plates in the city should ensure that the registration certificate (RC), driving license, engine number among other necessary documents,” stated Singh.
He further stated that the directions should be followed by all the persons designing number plates, and if anybody were found flouting the directions, he would be dealt sternly.
