Swine flu claimed the life of 26-year-old man at Christian Medical College and Hospital on Sunday night.
District epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma said the patient was undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past one week, and had been put on ventilator support. He said the patient was
suffering from fever with cough and respiratory problems.
Dr Verma said a total of 15 deaths due to swine flu were reported form Ludhiana, and of these seven persons belonged to the district.
The doctor said a total of 66 swine flu cases were reported in city hospitals this year. Of them, 24 patients belonged to the district, while remaining were from other districts and states.
Dr Verma said the common symptoms of swine flu were fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, difficulty in breathing, body aches, headache, fatigue, chills, diarrhoea, vomiting and blood in sputum.
