Love-struck youngsters aren't the only ones eagerly waiting for Valentines Day. Confectioners, gift shop owners, jewellery makers, restaurateurs and even clubs are all eyeing the February 14 rush of romance.
Though there has been a rise in the demand of roses, bouquets and
greeting cards, the florists and the owners of the greeting cards shops in the city are waiting for the D-day.
Owner of Green nursery and florists on Pakhowal road, Amit Sood says that though the market has witnessed a 20%-30% rise, we are expecting a turn for good on Thursday.

"As February 14 is the Valentine's Day, majority of people will give roses to their loved ones. So Thursday will be the peak time for florists," he said.

Owner of Narhgis florists at Fountain chowk, Monica Jain too feels that florists have been receiving advance orders for roses and bouquets but sales increase only on the last two days. Similar were the views of Ramesh Kumar, owner of Ramesh flowers in Model town.

The rose was available at a price of Rs. 20-25 per rose in market and increased demand for the same in last two days is expected to raise the price.

Similarly, owners of greeting cards shops in city witnessed a rise in business owing to Valentines week, but are all waiting for the Valentine's Day. Owner of Archies Gallery in Shastri Nagar, Amarjot Kaur said that though their business has seen a rise in last few days, maximum business comes only on Valentine's Day.
