Under the ambitious scheme of the central government to disburse grants directly to the beneficiary, the workers enrolled under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) will get online payment from April 1.
Fatehgarh Sahib deputy commissioner Yashvir Mahajan on Friday said the district administration had made elaborate arrangements in this regard.
He said workers remuneration under MANREGA would be directly transferred to their bank accounts through Aadhaar cards.
Fatehgarh Sahib is among the three districts of Punjab selected for the scheme of direct distribution of central government grants.
The DC on Friday held a meeting to review arrangements regarding implementation of MANREGA scheme in the district. He directed BDPOs, APOs and other officials to make Aadhaar cards of 43,039 people in 15 days.
He said only those workers would get payment who had Aadhaar cards.
The DC said a grant of Rs. 3.78 crore was received by the district during the current year, out of which 3.43 crore had been spent on various development works and employment have been provided for 1,26,882 days.
The DC directed the officials concerned to provide guaranteed 100 days of work to 27,070 cardholders.
