As many as 507 aspirants, including PPP's Gurdas Singh Badal, filed their nominations on Thursday for the state assembly election in Punjab slated for January 30. So far, 979 candidates have entered the fray for the 117-member assembly, a spokesperson of the state Election Office
said.

Prominent candidates who filed their papers today were Gurdas Singh Badal, father of PPP chief Manpreet Singh Badal, from Lambi constituency and SAD's Bibi Jagir Kaur from Bholath.

Gurdas will cross swords with his brother and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal from Lambi in Muktsar district.
