The Bathinda-Lambi road turned into a sea of red-beacon vehicles moving towards the Badal village on Tuesday.

The Badals remained inside their palatial residence, until the SAD-BJP alliance's complete majority was confirmed.

Before celebrating, the family performed a prayer (Ardaas) inside the home.

Parkash Singh Badal, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal along with Bikramjit Singh Majithia addressed the media and the large number of waiting supporters.

Refraining from any personal attack, Parkash Singh Badal said, "People have awarded us for the kind of development that took place in the Punjab in the last five years. We were successful in maintaining law and order and communal harmony."

Sukhbir interrupted: "It was made clear before the elections that he will be the CM of the state."

On the role of Sukhbir Bada, the CM said, "I am happy with the hard work done by Sukhbir during the campaign. He carries the policies of the party to the people of the state."

Meanwhile, the royal palace New Moti Mehal, the residence of Punjab Congress president captain Amarinder Singh and his family which was abuzz with activity till a day ago, had undergone a transformation.

Raninder's humiliation thickened the question mark over the future of the royal family in Punjab politics. "Beyond imagination… unbelievable," said Congressman Kulwant Singh, who had purchased garlands for celebration, anticipating Raninder's victory. At the first confirmation of defeat, photojournalists were barred from entering the palace.
