Sushma Swaraj endorses candidature of Narendra Modi as PM
Senior BJP leader L K Advani on Sunday termed Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as a "role model" of development while appealing to states to imitate him. "Modi is undertaking great development work in Gujarat. He is a role model for chief ministers of other states on how to rule,
govern and take care of even the poorest,"  Advani said while addressing election rallies at Kalol and Mansa in Gandhinagar district.

Praising Modi for introducing schemes for tribals and fishermen, Advani said "Prices have risen during the Congress regime while the Union government is facing corruption charges. Scam after scam is being unravelled."

BJP has fielded Dr Atul Patel from Kalol against Baldev Thakor of Congress.

Modi, who was criticised by Congress for undertaking a 3-D blitzkrieg for poll campaigning, received a pat on his back from the party veteran.

"Narendra Modi is the first person to address public through hologram (3D technology)," he said.

A battery of senior leaders including party president Nitin Gadkari, Murli Manohar Joshi, Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Gopinath Munde among others were in the state to campaign for BJP in the poll-bound state.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley addressed rallies at Karamsad in Nadiad and Petlad in Anand and attacked Congress-led UPA government while praising Modi for "good governance".

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his Himachal Pradesh counterpart Prem Kumar Dhumal appealed to voters to vote Modi government to power once again.

While Chouhan addressed the public meetings at Thakkarbapanagar and Halso, Dhumal at Maninagar.

Modi will address three public rallies on Monday at Viramgam, Chotila in Surendranagar and Porbandar.

Modi as PM: BJP, RSS grapple with dilemma

All eyes are on the BJP's leadership dilemma after Narendra Modi's third straight win in Gujarat, reports Vikas Pathak.

When the student outdid the mentor

As results came in on Thursday, Keshubhai Patel’s home wore a deserted look. The assumption that the Patel satrap would restrict the BJP’s tally by damaging its prospects in Saurashtra proved wrong. The damage was limited to eight of 54 seats, Smruti Koppikar reports.
