Robert Vadra has questionable ties with DLF: Kejriwal
Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is likely to target Robert Vadra — son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi — in his campaign following allegations by activist Arvind Kejriwal and lawyer Prashant Bhushan that Vadra and the DLF group are involved in multi-crore corrupt land deals.

The DLF group is one of India’s leading realty firms.

“The BJP demands an independent probe into these transactions. Why did DLF give unsecured, interest-free loans to Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra? Is it a quid pro quo? ... it is a serious matter,” said BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad.

BJP sources said Modi was set to use the allegations involving Vadra as his fresh ammunition during his campaign.

Earlier, Modi had kicked off a row by alleging that Rs. 1,880 crore of public money was spent on Sonia Gandhi’s overseas visits.

'PM misleading country'

A more combative Gujarat chief minister has once again accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of misleading the country on the issue of Congress President Sonia Gandhi's foreign trips, quoting RTI replies from Indian embassies.

"The Prime Minister is misguiding the country. I ask the Prime Minister as a common man to come clean. The RTI reply received from various Indian embassies abroad says lakhs of rupees were spent on Soniaji's foreign trips," Modi claimed.

Modi's fresh allegation came on a day when the Prime Minister's Office issued a statement saying government had not spent money on overseas visits of the UPA chairperson or on her medical treatment and rubbished Modi's earlier claim that government had spent Rs. 1,880 crore on her travels.

Addressing a huge campaign rally on Friday night, Modi said Ramesh Sharma, a youth from Hisar, had got some information from Indian embassies.

"The PM, in a statement today, said only Rs. 3 lakh were spent on her travels abroad," Modi said, adding that RTI replies revealed that lakhs of rupees were spent.

"Sonia Gandhi's visit to London twice in 2007 and 2011 -- the money spent was Rs. 2.82 lakh and Rs. 35 lakh respectively.

Her two trips to China -- money spent was Rs. 14 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh respectively," he said, reading from the RTI replies.

He went on to give names of other countries she had visited and the expenditures incurred.

The chief minister further said he had never sought the details of medical treatment expenses of Sonia Gandhi.

Modi as PM: BJP, RSS grapple with dilemma

All eyes are on the BJP's leadership dilemma after Narendra Modi's third straight win in Gujarat, reports Vikas Pathak.

When the student outdid the mentor

As results came in on Thursday, Keshubhai Patel’s home wore a deserted look. The assumption that the Patel satrap would restrict the BJP’s tally by damaging its prospects in Saurashtra proved wrong. The damage was limited to eight of 54 seats, Smruti Koppikar reports.
