Be it their action prowess, charismatic personality or box office success, Khans undoubtedly rule the film industry. Although Shah Rukh Khan owns the title of King Khan, Salman Khan's fan following and Aamir Khan's credibility often makes everyone question the fairness of the tag.
Aamir Khan: Talaash
Director: Reema Kagti
Actresses: Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor
Release date: November 30
BO India: Rs 59.6 crore (First five-days)
Over the years, Aamir Khan has earned the trust of his fans with his quality-over-quantity approach. He is seen after three years in supernatural-thriller Talaash, his last film being 3 Idiots. He did, however, play the second lead in Kiran Rao's debut film Dhobi Ghat in 2011.
It would be incorrect to expect Talaash to do business like 3 Idiots, which is an all time blockbuster and one that gave us the 200-crore jargon. Being a non-festive release unlike Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Ek Tha Tiger, it opened well and has collected a total of Rs 59.6 cr crore (in India) in the first five days. Made with a budget of Rs 40 crore, the film is already a hit.
Talaash hasn't run for even a week but Mr Perfectionist has hit bull's eye already, making everyone- film critics, producers and audiences - happy.
Khan crown: Points in Aamir's favour are his credibility and quality of work. Not everyone would dare to return to the screen after three-years with a thriller, catering to a niche audience over a masala-entertainer.
Shah Rukh Khan: Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Director: Yash Chopra
Actresses: Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma
Release date: November 13
BO India: Rs 119.63 crore (First three-weeks)
SRK doesn't own the title King Khan for nothing. The man has worked duper hard to earn and sustain it. It surely does take something to be king of romance Yash Chopra's favourite and to star in his last directorial venture.
Although Jab Tak Hai Jaan didn't open to great reviews, SRK's magnetic charm still attracted masses to theatres. So much so the film joined the 100 crore club within 11 days of release and Yash Chopra's swan song garnered Rs 119.63 crore in the first three weeks.
Khan crown: Can King Khan be the Khan of 2012? Sure, why not! SRK gave his nod to Yash Chora even without reading the script. He also went on to break his no-onscreen-kissing record. You can't stay away from SRK's charm.
Salman Khan: Ek Tha Tiger
Director: Kabir Khan
Actress: Katrina Kaif
Release date: August 15
BO India: Rs 186 crore
Salman Khan's bindaas attitude has earned him immense following. And thus, Ek Tha Tiger has the record of biggest opening, biggest single day collection, biggest opening weekend collection and biggest opening week collection. It is also the fastest to make it to the 100 crore club. This is just a glimpse of Salmania!
Salman Khan believes in entertaining the masses. He even choreographs his own signature steps for dance sequences, which are simple to follow and become a rage with his fans.
Khan crown: He is an actor of masses. He is a complete entertainer. His style and personality is unique and no one can do a film the way he does.
