A breath of fresh air is blowing through India’s top order at the Champions Trophy and the gusts whipped up by openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have experts delighted.
Dhawan (27) scored two perfectly-paced centuries, neatly timed shots underlining his class while Rohit Sharma’s
back-to-back half-centuries have helped him shake off criticism that he has not delivered on his talent
Former India skipper, Kapil Dev, was delighted. “This boy (Dhawan) is such an amazing batsman, I am sure he is here to stay,” he said. “No one here in England is talking about the past... everyone is just talking about Shikhar and his batting.”
“This is a good sign for Indian cricket. Many young players are already taking over from the seniors. The change is going smoothly,” he added.
