Marksheet can wait, not Shah Rukh Khan

Clad in purple, 16-year old Nilu Mandal was dancing away in front of Eden Gardens at 8am on Tuesday. Nothing untoward, except that the Madhyamik results were out and Mandal was yet to pick up his marksheet.

Mandal was not alone. HT spoke to at least six boys all in team jerseys and faces painted purple who, carried away by the SRK mania that had gripped the city, gave their Madhyamik marksheets a miss.

“I will go to school tomorrow as the programme might end late,” said Mandal, a student of Jangra High School of Baguihati. “ I would have been the loser had I missed this.”

Mandal was seconded by Bikash Kumar. “Results can wait. I will collect them tomorrow”, said the student of MG Rungta High School. “Where else would you find Gambhir, Narine, and Shah Rukh together? Such an opportunity comes only once in a lifetime. Marksheets can wait,” said Mohammad Asif of Howrah High School.
